Kirsten Nelsen Clinic Series
Riding from the Core addresses the horse and rider from their existing skill level and helps them move forward to the goal of melding two distinct body types into a balanced pair. Kirsten's focus is balancing the horse and rider from the inside outward, working initially on the horse's core of movement, often from the ground. The focus on the horse's movement is done with the goal of developing independent balance in the horse. The rider's balance is also developed from the core outward, and as a result, the horse and rider pair begins to support complete balance in each other. Having the horse and human each independently maintaining their own balance allows the horse the freedom to move correctly and efficiently which helps reduce the chances of stress and lameness.
Kirsten's success as a teacher can be attributed in great part to the fact that she takes the time to explain her concepts with descriptive phrases and visualizations that are easily translated by her pupil, thereby assisting the rider in achieving a more effective body position and communication with the horse. Her understanding of both human and equine biomechanics helps place the rider in the most advantageous position to influence and benefit the horse's movement.
Kirsten teaches in an individual lesson format, allowing each horse and rider pair to receive personal and individual instruction.
